Join a server from Switch, Xbox or PlayStation
Updated 18 August 2026
On PC, phones and tablets, Minecraft Bedrock Edition has an Add Server button at the bottom of the Servers tab. On Switch, Xbox and PlayStation, that button doesn’t exist. The list only shows the featured servers approved by Microsoft, and there’s no way to type in an address.
An app, not a network setting
BedrockTogether is the most popular tool for this. It runs on your iOS or Android phone and shows your server to the console as a local world. It’s free and ad-supported, with a paid version that removes the ads.
On Xbox and PlayStation
The console sees your server as a local network (LAN) game. So your phone and your console must be on the same Wi-Fi.
- In the app, stay on the PlayStation · Xbox tab.
- Enter the address in the IP field and the port in the port field.
- Tap Watch Ad and Run, and wait for confirmation that the server is running.
- On the console, open Minecraft, select Play, then go to the Worlds tab.
- Your server appears in the list as a LAN game.
On Switch, go through DNS
The Switch is the odd one out: it doesn’t show local network games. BedrockTogether does have a method for it, but it needs a second Microsoft account, added as a friend. DNS is the more direct route.
BedrockConnect is a free, open-source project that intercepts the addresses of the servers in the list and shows you a menu where you can enter yours instead.
- In the Switch’s Internet settings, change your connection and set DNS to Manual.
- Primary DNS
104.238.130.180, secondary DNS8.8.8.8. - Launch Minecraft, go to the Servers tab, and join one of the following servers: The Hive, Mineville, Lifeboat, Galaxite or Enchanted.
- The BedrockConnect menu opens instead. Add your server with its address and port.
