Enable the whitelist

Updated 18 August 2026

Instead of letting everyone onto your server, you can create a whitelist. It’s the simplest way to stop strangers playing on it.

On Mineon, two clicks

  1. Open the Settings tab, Access group.
  2. Turn on Whitelist, then save.
  3. Restart the server for the setting to take effect.

Once the server has started, the Players tab is where you choose who can join.

By hand

In server.properties:

max-players=20
online-mode=true
white-list=true <-- here

The allowed usernames live next to it, in whitelist.json. The safest way is not to edit it directly but to use the server console:

/whitelist add PlayerName - To add a player
/whitelist remove PlayerName - To remove them
/whitelist list - To see who's allowed

Important

Removing someone doesn’t kick them. A player who’s already connected when you remove them stays in the game until they next disconnect. You can kick them from the Players tab in Mineon, or with /kick PlayerName.
